Why organise obstacle course racing with Blyzer?

Competitor registration

Runners sign up via a link into a category (elite, open, teams, kids), you split them into start waves and your start list is ready.

Start waves and schedule

Set the format – a timed race, a series over several rounds or knockout duels – and the system prepares the schedule.

Times, penalties and rankings

Enter the finish time and penalties for failed obstacles, and the category and overall rankings are recalculated automatically.

Race history

An archive of seasons and series – results and rankings are never lost.

The most common OCR race and league formats

Choose the format that fits your event – Blyzer generates the start list, results and series standings. You can set up any format in the wizard in a few minutes.

Race

A classic obstacle race – every competitor runs for themselves and the finish time including penalties for failed obstacles decides the ranking. Results by category and start wave.

How to: Create race → Configure → categories and start waves → open registration → enter times.

Race series (league)

Several races over the season – points in the standings for every round, an overall series champion at the end. For OCR clubs, regional leagues and corporate challenges.

How to: Create league → Configure → number of rounds and points system → Generate schedule → enter results after each round.

Knockout duels

Two competitors side by side on a short obstacle course, lose and you are out. A spectator-friendly format for ninja courses, festivals and corporate events – seeded by qualifying times.

How to: Create tournament → Configure → no groups, play-off only → Seed competitors → Generate bracket.

Team race

Corporate or club teams run together and the time of the last member or the sum of times counts. Group heats and a final for the best teams.

How to: Create tournament → Configure → number of groups and advancing teams → Generate groups → Generate play-off.

Not sure which format to pick?

Our guides compare the formats, give recommendations by number of competitors and course capacity, and share tips on start waves and penalties.

Tip: For a single event choose a race with start waves; for a whole season, a series with points by placing.

Obstacle course racing (OCR) – FAQ

How are penalties for failed obstacles counted?

When entering the result you add a time penalty (e.g. 30 burpees or +2 minutes) to the finish time – the rankings are recalculated automatically and the competitor sees both the clean and the final time.

Can competitors be split into start waves and categories?

Yes. At registration the competitor picks a category (elite, age group, open, kids) and you assign them to a start wave – you keep rankings for each category separately and overall.

Can it handle a corporate obstacle race with teams?

Yes. Teams sign up via a link, run in heats and the time of the last member counts – the results are on screen right at the finish.

How much does it cost?

The basics are free – you can create and run a race, series or tournament at no charge.
