Most popular Apex Legends tournament and league formats

Pick the format that fits your event – Blyzer generates the schedule, scoring and standings. You can set up any format in the wizard in a few minutes.

Points-based competition (battle royale)

The classic Apex format – 20 teams in one lobby, multiple rounds, points for placement and for every kill. Overall standings by total points, just like ALGS.

How to: Create race → Configure → placement and kill points → number of rounds → enter results after every round.

Groups + finals lobby

With 40 or more teams, split them into several lobbies (groups), play qualifying rounds and send the best teams from each group to the finals lobby.

How to: Create tournament → Configure → number of groups and qualifiers → Generate groups → finals round.

Single-elimination bracket (Mixtape / Arenas)

For team-vs-team modes – Team Deathmatch, Control or Gun Run. Lose a BO1 or BO3 series and you're out. A fast format for LAN parties or school tournaments.

How to: Create tournament → Configure → no groups, play-off only → Seed teams → Generate bracket.

Double elimination

Every team gets two chances – after the first loss they continue in the losers' bracket. A fairer format for smaller 3v3 tournaments where one bad match shouldn't decide everything.

How to: Create tournament → Configure → double-elimination play-off → Generate bracket.

Long-term league

A multi-week season – one match day per week with several rounds, points add up in the league standings. Ideal for communities, schools and clubs with regular scrims.

How to: Create league → Configure → number of match days and teams → Generate schedule → enter results as you go.

Not sure which format to pick?

Our guides compare the formats, suggest recommended battle royale scoring and share tips on running several lobbies at once.

Tip: Up to 20 teams: go for a points-based competition over 4–6 rounds; more teams: qualifying groups + finals lobby.

Apex Legends – FAQ

How is scoring set up in an Apex Legends tournament?

You set the placement points (e.g. 12 points for winning the lobby) and points per kill yourself – use the ALGS system or your own. Standings are recalculated automatically after every round.

How many teams fit in a tournament?

One lobby holds 20 teams of three players. With more teams, split the tournament into several lobbies (groups) with qualifiers and a finals lobby.

Does the tournament support crossplay between PC and consoles?

Yes. During registration, teams state their platform (PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch) and you decide whether the lobby is crossplay or separate.

Can I also run a 3v3 tournament in Mixtape modes?

Yes. For Team Deathmatch, Control or Gun Run, use a classic tournament with a bracket or groups and BO1/BO3 series.

How much does it cost?

The basics are free – you can create and run a tournament, league or points-based competition at no charge.
