The most common tournament and league formats in beach soccer

Choose the format that fits your competition – Blyzer generates the schedule, standings and bracket. You can set up any format in the wizard in a few minutes.

Groups + play-off

Teams are split into groups, play round-robin, and the best advance to a knockout bracket. The most common format for weekend beach soccer tournaments.

How to: Create tournament → Configure → number of groups and advancing teams → Generate groups → Generate play-off.

Round-robin

Every team plays every opponent and the standings decide the final order. Ideal for smaller tournaments of up to 6 teams on a single pitch.

How to: Create tournament → Configure → 1 group, no play-off → Generate matches.

Knockout bracket

Lose and you are out – a fast format for a large number of teams, optionally with a 3rd-place match. There are no draws in beach soccer; extra time and penalties decide.

How to: Create tournament → Configure → no groups, play-off only → Seed teams → Generate bracket.

Double elimination

Every team gets two chances – after the first loss it continues in the losers' bracket. A fairer format where everyone plays at least two matches.

How to: Create tournament → Configure → double elimination play-off → Generate bracket.

Summer league

A season for the whole summer – rounds by calendar, standings with points and goal difference, matches at the lido or by the lake. For clubs, groups of friends and corporate leagues.

How to: Create league → Configure → number of rounds and teams → Generate schedule → enter results as you go.

Not sure which format to pick?

Our guides compare the formats, give recommendations by number of teams and sand pitches, and share tips on seeding and the timetable.

Tip: With 8 teams and one pitch, go for 2 groups + play-off; for the whole summer, choose a league.

Beach soccer – FAQ

How are draws handled, since there are none in beach soccer?

For each match you enter the result after extra time or penalties and set the points according to the rules – for example 3 points for a win in regular time, 2 after extra time and 1 after penalties.

How many players does a beach soccer team have?

There are 5 players on the pitch (4 + goalkeeper) and the roster usually has up to 12 players. You set the roster size yourself and captains add players at registration.

Which format should I choose for 10 teams and one pitch?

We recommend 2 groups of 5 teams and a play-off for the top 4 – every team plays at least 4 matches and the tournament fits into a weekend.

How much does it cost?

The basics are free – you can create and run a tournament or league at no charge.
