Double elimination

The Smash community standard – winners' and losers' bracket with a grand final, generated automatically.

Season ranking

Placement points from every weekly, a running power ranking and an archive of all tournaments.

Most popular Smash tournament and league formats

The Smash community has its proven formats – double elimination, pools and top 8. Pick a format and Blyzer generates the bracket, pools and ranking – you can set it all up in the wizard in a few minutes.

Double elimination

The standard for every Smash tournament: every player gets two chances – after the first loss they continue in the losers' bracket all the way to the grand final, where the losers' bracket winner can reset the bracket. BO3, BO5 from top 8.

How to: Create tournament → Configure → double-elimination play-off → Seed players → Generate bracket.

Pools + top 8

Players are split into pools (groups), play round-robin or a small bracket and the best from each pool advance to the final top 8 bracket. The format of large regional tournaments for 32 to 128 players.

How to: Create tournament → Configure → number of groups and qualifiers → Generate groups → Generate play-off.

Single-elimination bracket

Lose a series and you're out – a fast format for a school tournament or side event when setups and time are limited. Seeding by ranking or by draw.

How to: Create tournament → Configure → no groups, play-off only → Seed players → Generate bracket.

Round-robin

Everyone plays a series against everyone, the record and stock count decide the final order. Ideal for a crew battle league or a small weekly of up to 8 players.

How to: Create tournament → Configure → 1 group, no play-off → Generate matches.

Long-term league

A multi-week season – one scheduled 1v1 round every week, standings with points. For school clubs, Discord communities and team crew battle leagues.

How to: Create league → Configure → number of rounds and players → Generate schedule → enter results as you go.

Race / points-based competition

A season power ranking with no match schedule: players sign up individually and collect placement points from every weekly or from a competition for the most wins in an online arena. Ranked by points automatically.

How to: Create race → Configure → scoring (more = better) → open registration → record points after every tournament.

How does it work for Super Smash Bros.?

  1. Create a tournament, league or ranking

In the wizard, set the game (Ultimate, Melee), the mode (1v1, doubles, crew), the format – double elimination, pools + top 8 – and the series length, BO3 or BO5.

  2. Invite players

Send a registration link – players state their tag and main, you seed them by ranking and split them into pools.

  3. Record results

After every series, record the result (2:0, 3:2) and Blyzer instantly advances the winners' and losers' brackets and recalculates the pools.

For organisers

Less running around between setups with a list, more time for playing. Players and spectators see the current bracket, pools and who's up next – on the web and on mobile.

  • Registration via linkPlayers sign up themselves, you just confirm.

Super Smash Bros. – FAQ

Does Blyzer support double elimination with a grand final reset?

Yes. The bracket has a winners' and a losers' side plus a grand final – if the losers' bracket winner takes the first series, you record a second, deciding series.

How do I set BO3 in pools and BO5 from top 8?

In the configuration you choose the series length separately for the group stage and the play-off. Record the result as 2:1 or 3:0 and the bracket advances automatically.

Does it work for both Ultimate and Melee?

Yes, and for doubles and crew battles too. State the format and rules (stage list, stocks, timer) in the tournament description; Blyzer handles the bracket and results.

How many players can a LAN tournament handle?

From 8 to 128 and more. With 32+ players we recommend pools + a top 8 bracket, with the number of pools set by the number of setups.

How much does it cost?

The basics are free – you can create and run a tournament, league or season ranking at no charge.
